“Indian troops delivered a sharp, measured response. The situation’s locked down and under close watch,” an Indian Army spokesperson said.

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Pakistan Army troops crossed into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, breaking the ceasefire pact between the two nations. The breach kicked off at 1:10 p.m. local time, prompting a swift and steady counter from Indian forces.

The Nangi Tekri Battalion, part of the Krishna Ghati Brigade, didn’t hesitate, striking back hard against the surprise assault, according to an Indian Army insider. “Around 1:10 p.m. on April 1, a mine went off in the Krishna Ghati Sector after Pakistan Army troops slipped across the Line of Control (LoC). They followed it with unprovoked gunfire, violating the ceasefire. Our guys answered with precision and control. Everything’s stable now, and we’re keeping a tight eye on it,” the official shared.

The insider stressed, “The Indian Army stands firm on sticking to the 2021 DGsMO deal—it’s key to keeping the peace along the LoC.” That agreement, renewed on February 25, 2021, has mostly held, making ceasefire breaches like this a rare flare-up.

Meanwhile, the Rising Star Corps chimed in on nearby action: “Based on intel, we set up surveillance and ambush teams around Panjtirthi in Kathua with the Indian Army, JK Police, and CRPF. Suspicious movement popped up late March 31, sparking a shootout. We rolled out search-and-destroy ops at dawn on April 1—still in progress.”
